The Ringwood Farmers' Market

Orchards of Concklin

Laura & Christopher
Laura & Christopher, the mother and son duo
who run the booth every Saturday.

Meet the Concklins from Pomona, NY. The family has been growing fruit in Rockland County since 1712. Today, they sell their produce, fruit, and baked goods at 14 area farmers' markets.

They have great pride in their work partly because of their long history. The family owned and farmed the land through the American Revolution, the Civil War and the pressures of the early 20th Century. Raymond Concklin took over the farm in 1945. When he died in 1993, his son Richard and daughter Linda took over the operation, and they are still farming it today.

The challenges of keeping the family farm running in these days of mega supermarkets and convenience stores are being met through new marketing channels at farmers' markets and niche markets. We are glad they've made our market part of the solution to their challenge!
