Heathly Families

Beginning in 2009, in our effort to bring fresh, local food to Ringwood, Eat Local Inc. invited local businesses to partner with us to help the growing number of families and individuals in our neighborhood who are struggling with food bills.  The intention was to bring our mission to families who are serviced by the Center for Food Action (CFA) of Mahwah, the local food pantry located at the Presbyterian Church on Carltondale Road, Ringwood. Many businesses and residents answered our call and the Healthy Families program was born!

The CFA serves the hungry of Ringwood, West Milford and Wanaque.  These families have limited means and access to local, fresh food.  Most of what they receive at the food pantry is in cans and boxes to be used at any time. In the first year Eat Local was able to deliver $600 in "Market Bucks" to the CFA for its clients to spend at the Ringwood Farmers Market to purchase fresh produce. This year Eat Local has raised $1,000 to give to the the CFA for its clients to use at the market.

Please consider making charitable donation to Eat Local and the CFA.  Won’t you help us to help others? You can make your donation by sending a check to Eat Local, Inc., PO Box 121, Ringwood, NJ, 07456. Please write "Healthy Families" on your check.

The Ringwood Farmers' Market and Healthy Families are projects of Eat Local, Inc., a 501(c)3, non-profit organization dedicated to bringing local foods to Ringwood.
